Church Council Highlights
CHURCH COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS July 28, 2008
The Church Council has directed the members-at-large, moderator, vice moderator and chair of personnel to develop a search and call process. This group has met with Michael Denton, Conference Minister and shared the initial report on July 28th. A final report will be presented on August 25th. Initial thoughts are to a) create one seamless, coordinated process to call both the lead pastor and pastor, b) include the congregation in determining the traits we desire in a search and call committee, and c) establish a clear set of responsibilities and communication system between the congregation, Church Council and the Search and Call Committee. Michael Denton has said that the search and call process is one of his favorite responsibilities and that he will provide information, training and support on a regular basis for our committee.
Eministry team introduced changes to the FCCB website and informed Council of future needs and possibilities for providing information electronically.
A digital photo archive is being created. Anyone with photos to share is asked to bring them to the church office.
The program calendar for the year is being developed. All Boards/Committees are asked to add their planned activities to the calendar to avoid scheduling conflicts. A detailed calendar will be available in September.
MSP to immediately allocate $10,000 from Total Pastoral Staff budget line item to OCWM Basic Support
MSP to initiate a short term Debt Elimination Gift Opportunity campaign early in 2009 to secure a secondary source of funds for debt elimination as CC III ends
Council agrees with Budget Committee's plan to create two budgets for 2009: (1) usual line item budget and (2) a narrative budget which describes how what we give supports what we do - meeting scheduled for August 13 at 7 p.m. in rooms 12-14 to begin budget dialog. All are welcome at this meeting. Committee for Search and Call process made a preliminary report with a final report due at the next regular meeting of Council on August 25.
All-Church Camp Out announced by Membership Board at Larrabee Park on Sept. 19.
