CHURCH COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS
February 23, 2009
· MSP(Moved, Seconded & Passed) approval of Annual Meeting
Minutes
· MSP approval of Randy Flowers for Pastoral Relations Committee
· Pastoral Relations Committee will meet each month, alternating
pastors
· Scheduled Church Council Retreat for March 7, 8:30 a.m. noon
· Vacancies on Diaconate, Membership, Christian Education, and
Stewardship yet to be filled
· Operating Budget/CCIII Campaign review for Congregation set for
spring/fall
· Neither pastor has been here this time of year so please alert
them to any traditional, expected events that might be overlooked
· Pastor Evaluation Tools reviewed one survey for staff, one
for 2008 Council
· Annual Meeting format deemed successful
· Outstanding Building Debt may be between $55,000 - $60,000 at
conclusion of CCIII in May. ideas to address that balance discussed.
· Comfort Food Potluck/Talent Show a hit!
· Religion and Science Panel presentation well-attended with
lively discussion.
· Search and Call Committee working hard conducting telephone
interviews and calling references for candidates.
· Mission, Justice & Social Concerns may focus on Economic
Justice issues this year.
· Nursery Attendant needed as Jennifer Huffman has given her
notice.
· A new sacristy sink has been purchased and installed. (1
ReStore sink = $3.00; gaskets/sealant for sink = $10.25; larger sink
with no messy splashing = Priceless)
· New Communion Set being designed; will accommodate bread/rice
crackers
· Process continuing for defibrillator acquisition/training
· Intruder alarm system being refined
· Pastor Jane working with great group of kids in Confirmation
Class.
· Pastor Savage working to help revitalize Prayer Chain,
maintain energy of Stephen Ministry and visit members who arent able to
attend church.
