    CHURCH COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS
    April 27, 2009

Search and Call Committee currently has two candidates for Lead Pastor.  Council supports S & C Committee taking the time it needs for best decision possible.

Sharry Nyberg reported the adult mission trip to New Orleans was "awesome."

Moderator Pete Rittmueller described the Pacific Northwest Conference Annual Meeting as interesting and worthwhile.

Committee is being formed to review and make suggestions for changes to our church governance.  Pete seeks volunteers for a committee of 5-7 people.

Update on the outstanding building debt from the Board of Trustees indicates that, after the proceeds from the sale of Marie Kegley's condo are realized (aprox. $50,000), the remaining debt will be approximately $30-50,000. Outstanding pledges are $40,000 with the expectation that about half of that amount will be paid.  Letters will be sent to thank people for their pledges, to remind them of any outstanding balance, and to invite those relatively new to the church to participate in retiring the deb.  A celebration party is planned.

Board of Mission, Justice and Social Concerns is researching how to become a "Just Peace" church and considering ways to use our church as a community resource, i.e., cold weather shelter for women and children.

A rock was thrown through a window behind our cross in the sanctuary. We have a $1,000 deductible but Trustees will check on a possible vandalism clause.

Pastoral Relations Committee meeting monthly alternating pastors.
