CHILDREN & YOUTH

Opening windows into faith

SUNDAY MORNING CHURCH SCHOOL

(Preschool-5th Grade)

Children meet with others their age to explore and grow in their faith together through drama, video, games, science, food, and art.

SUNDAY MORNING YOUTH

(Middle and High School)

Youth can gather together in worship with their “Wreck This Worship Journals,” an interactive way to explore worship. Sitting together in the balcony, they connect with each other and have a wide view of the service.

FIRST SUNDAY COMMUNION

On the first Sunday of each month, all children join their family of faith for the full worship service and sacrament of Communion. Some children choose to sit with their parents/guardians, while many sit with supportive adults on pillows in the front of the congregation. There they can see everything that is happening close-up. Wiggles and sounds are welcome in worship!

LEADING SUNDAY WORSHIP

Children and youth play an active part in the Sunday morning service. They ring the church bell to start the service, lead liturgical readings, share their musical talent, help with communion and call for the morning offering.

JOURNEY TOGETHER

(Kindergarten-Middle School) This multi-age group gathers one Sunday each month following the morning service. They explore ways to practice faith and build friendships through field trips, guest speakers, mission projects, and special activities.

MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL GATHERINGS

High School Youth meet most Sundays following worship until 1 p.m. Middle School Youth currently meet Sundays at 3:00 pm.

HIGH SCHOOL MISSION TRIP

The High School Mission Trip focuses on service and volunteer work emphasizing education and cultural/social awareness.

OUR WHOLE LIVES (OWL) SPIRITUALITY & SEXUALITY EDUCATION

We periodically offer a rotation of OWL classes for various ages, including Elementary, Middle, and High School. Our Whole Lives helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. It equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information on human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society and culture. Grounded in a holistic view of sexuality, Our Whole Lives helps participants clarify their values, build interpersonal skills, and understand the spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of sexuality.

THE CHILDREN'S GARDEN

The Children’s Garden is a church school mission project. The produce and flowers from the garden are shared with the congregation. Families are invited to be “Garden Angels”—volunteering to care for the garden for a week during the summer.

GAME NIGHT

Everyone is invited to join this fun gathering held on the last Friday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Bring a snack and come prepared for a night of family fun!

MOTHER/DAUGHTER RETREAT

All women and girls of our faith community are invited to join in this annual opportunity of joy and laughter, where we share our wisdom  and celebrate God in our lives.

CHURCH CAMP

Join in the community and fun at one of our scenic UCC camps this summer! Our two camps, Pilgrim Firs, and N-Sid-Sen provide summer programs exploring God’s creation for children, youth and families. Both camps offer water activities, opportunities to experience nature, time for fellowship and quiet contemplation, and all your favorite camp activities!
