Secure Gun Storage Saves Children's Lives
The new Committee for Gun Responsibility is hosting a presentation by a speaker from Be SMART, a program which teaches families to talk about gun safety in their own homes and in the homes of children's friends. Firearms are now the number one cause of death for children in the United States, a new Kaiser Family Foundation analysis finds. Gun violence – including accidental deaths, suicides, and homicides – have killed or hurt 6,023 U.S. children 17 years old or younger in 2022, according to Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit that tracks shooting incidents.
