Brown's List Waypoint Park

The new Waypoint Park is at the site of the old Georgia Pacific (GP) Plant, 1145 Granary Ave. In 2010 after GP left and before too much other activity started, Joe Meche documented the arrival of thousands of ground nesting Caspian Terns. The area changed, and they no longer nest there. The shape of their angular wings and bright orange bill distinguishes them from the gulls. While there, check out the Acid Ball, “rocket-like” digester tanks, pulp storage towers, unique playground, nearby bicycle pump track, and condo construction site. We are lucky that this beautiful area has been reclaimed from industrial use for this special park. What a good place to meditate about change.
