Christmas Elf Roles for Holiday Joy Event – December 8, 9, 10
The Interfaith Holiday Joy program providing Christmas gifts for children/youth is transitioning from a gift delivery event to a holiday gift store where parents can come and shop for their children. The gift store will be at First Congregational Church on December 9 & 10. You can help in two ways – Choose a gift to shop for from the Advent Tree starting November 20 or contact Kate Eifrig or Mona Slagle to become a Christmas Elf for the actual event. Below are some anticipated elf roles and time slots.
December 8
10:00 – 12:00: Receive items from the sponsors
12:00 – 3:00: Organize and set-up store
December 9
2:00 pm-4:00 pm and 6:00 pm–8:00 pm
Parking Lot Welcome: two people (wearing orange reflection vests)
Welcome and Check to make sure their name is on the list
Direct them to the designated parking slots for shoppers
Parking Lot Guides: two people to notify shoppers that the store is open to them personally
Communicate with the Toy Store Director for timing
Walk them to the orientation
December 9 (cont.)
2:00 pm-4:00 pm and 6:00 pm–8:00 pm
Orientation Guide: one or two people
Explain the flow of the Toy Store
Remind of guidelines: (two gifts per kid, cash only, etc.)
Toy Store Helpers: one or two people
Keep the store stocked and looking nice
Help families find what they’re looking for
Try to help families move through in 15 minutes
Check-out: two people
Thank parents for coming. Let them know they can make a donation if they would like.
Connect parents with couriers
Couriers: two people
Offer to help carry purchases to the car
