There are several opportunities coming to participate in social justice action and learning in the community. Here are a few opportunities:
Letter Writing at Whatcom Peace & Justice Center, Wednesday, January 31, from 6:00-8:00 pm at 1220 Bay Street. Gather together to write a letter to the editor or one of your legislators about current events, to promote peace and justice. The suggested theme for the evening is: "Intolerance at home lays the groundwork for war abroad."
The Longest Walk 5.3 February 16: The Longest Walk 5.3 is the final phase of a three year historic walks across America seeking solutions to drug abuse and domestic violence. The walk will depart Blaine, Washington, on February 16 and travel across the northern United States. This leg of the national walk starts at the Peace Arch in Blaine and ends at the Lummi Tribal offices (2665 Kwina Road, third turn in the roundabout then two streets down on the right). You are invited to participate in the entire walk, meet along the way for a partial walk, or meet the walkers about 12:00 pm at the Tribal offices. See http://www.longestwalk.us/ for more information
