Food Insecurity and Volunteer Efforts
28,000 people or 13.2% of Whatcom County Residents lack access, and at times, enough food for a healthy life. 7,500 children regularly go hungry in Whatcom County. New and Renewed Partnerships
Church Council recently adopted an Economic Justice statement. In conjunction, the Mission and Justice Board is now working with the following partners to impact systemic inequities through policy change: the Washington Poor People’s Campaign, the Faith Action Network, the Whatcom Food Security Task Force, the Bellingham Food Bank legislative effort, and the Birchwood Food Desert Fighters.
