  • Wednesdays at 6:30 pm, adults are welcome to join the Adult Forum for fellowship and discussion. See below for details about book reads. If you’re interested, get your books soon, so you can join us.

Adult Forums:

In September, we will hear from some of our congregation’s own published authors.

In October, we will read Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s book Life Together: The Classic Exploration of Christian Community. In these days of remote worship and being largely homebound, exploring new and creative ways of being community feels more relevant and critical than ever. The book chronicles Bonhoeffer’s involvement in a unique fellowship in an underground seminary during the Nazi years. It is available through a number of online booksellers for a very reasonable price as a paperback or audiobook.

In December, we will read Amy-Jill Levine's Light of the World. The book is written as a four-week study, perfect for Advent. Through the biblical accounts of the birth of Jesus, Levine invites discussion about how the Gospel stories connect to the Old Testament, women in Jewish culture in this time, and the significance of the events related to the Jesus’s birth. This book is available for purchase online in print or ebook format, or through Village Books in Fairhaven.

If you plan to join us and would like to facilitate one of the evening sessions in October or December, please contact Tammi Laninga at tlaninga@gmail.com or Sharry Nyberg at sharry@fccb.net.
