As one of your faith community nurses, I encourage everyone to wear an N95 in public places, due to how contagious the Omicron COVID-19 variant is. Studies have shown that the Omnicron variant multiplies 70x faster in the respiratory tract than the Delta variant. CDC studies have shown that it will take 25 hours for an infectious dose of Omicron to transmit between people wearing N95 respirators. Compare that transmission time to people wearing cloth masks around each other, which is a 27 minute infection time process. It is important to protect those in our community who are immunocompromised and to ease the burden of our Healthcare system. Obtain a booster shot if you qualify and haven't already had one.
