The Green Team Is Back
First Congregational Church had a Green Team from 2010 to 2013, headed by Rob Olason, but this group has not been meeting recently. After our successful Climate Revival last November and as our congregation considers becoming a Creation Justice church, we are inviting members and friends of the church to join us in a revival of the green team.
This team will not be a replacement for the official boards of the church, but rather a meeting place where grass roots organizers and official board members can meet, exchange ideas, plan actions, and organize our congregation’s response to the climate crisis as we work toward becoming a Creation Justice church. The Green Team will meet regularly to coordinate the Creating Justice work Boards of the church and to expand our vision of what we can do as individuals and as a congregation to respond to this crisis.
Green Team meetings will be held on the second and fourth Tuesday evenings of each month from 7:00–8:00 pm beginning February 28. Meetings will be fun, succinct, and on time. We understand that some of you may be participating in Pastor Davi’s storytelling class and are not available to meet during Lent. However, we see this as a long-term ongoing process and we will keep you informed by email if you are not able to attend.
