Want to fight for economic justice in our community? Here are some chances this summer.


Birchwood Food Desert

Help on Saturdays at the Birchwood Desert Food Fighters Share Spot at the Industrial Credit Union on Northwest. Volunteers are needed to work at the Share Spot as well as some prep work loading the van/trailer, and making sure that frozen items are kept at the proper temperature. Time frame is approximately 10:00 am–2:00 pm. People can sign up to volunteer at http://volunteersignup.org/LA9w9


Garden with Children

Common Threads is looking for adult volunteers for summer gardening. Common Threads connect kids to healthy food through gardening, cooking, and eating programs.  They currently support over 20 school gardens (mostly in Bellingham but also in other parts of the county) and several community learning gardens (one at Sterling Paz in North Bellingham and one at the East Whatcom Regional Resource Center in Maple Falls.
