Join the United Church of Ferndale to Commemorate Indigenous People’s Day
Indigenous People’s Day (Orange Shirt Day) will be commemorated at the United Church of Ferndale on Sunday, September 29 as part of their 10:30 am worship service. They will have extensive displays posted in the church lobby that will feature the Stickney Indian Boarding School, run by the Methodist Episcopal women in Whatcom County from 1892 to 1912. The exhibit will remain up through Indigenous Day, Monday, October 14. The church is open Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. On Friday it is open 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
Indigenous Peoples' Day is a holiday in the United States that celebrates and honors Indigenous American peoples and commemorates their histories and cultures.
