Intergenerational “ We Are Treaty People” Activities
Bellingham School District is having a day off for Treaty Day Monday, January 22. 2024. We're having some intergenerational activities that day, including a morning of crafts, awareness discussions, and an afternoon group visit to Whatcom Museum.
The Monday morning’s happenings will start at 10:00 am and go until about 12:30 pm. You and your family are welcome to drop in or attend all activities, then join us for the field trip to the People of Sea and Cedar Exhibit at Whatcom Museum's Lightcatcher Building.

A cool icebreaker
Learning about the Treaty People
Viewing an amazing YouTube video of Lummi Nation children learning from eagles
Focusing on the Salish People: their languages, legends, arts, crafts, and foods
Making fry bread and eating salmon and other indigenous snacks

Sharing thoughts about our land acknowledgement statements
These activities are organized by the Treaty Kit Committee with help from the Racial Equity Grant at First Congregational Church. Members of the Treaty Kit Committee are Marion Brown, Tena Hilton, Josh Marchand, Paula MacGrath, Tim Shepherd, Joyce Sweeney, Patti Williams, and Judy Walborg.
