International Women's Day

International Women’s Day, Saturday, March 8, 1:00-4:00 pm

 

Rena Priest, the Poet Laureate of Washington 2021 -2023, and a member of the Lummi Nation, will be one of three speakers at the International Women’s Day celebration on March 8th in Ferndale.  Festivities will be held from 1:00-4:00 pm at the United Church of Ferndale, 2034 Washington Street, the church next to the fire station.  Besides Rena Priest, speakers will be Trudy Shuravloff, financial educator and ED of Whatcom Dream, and Dana Carr, Director of the Max Higbee Center, and a health & wellness enthusiast. 

 

International Women’s Day (IWD) has always been about supporting the well-being of women and children.  IWD has a long, long history in our country, since at least 1914. There will be a petition to sign [with our first and middle names] to send to the Whitehouse.
