James E. Bradshaw (91) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 surrounded by loving family members. Jim was born in Tacoma, Washington on April 1, 1932 to Lee Bradshaw and Lois Thurston and moved to Leavenworth in 1942 where he grew up along with three brothers; Arnie, Bill and Phil and two sisters; Mary and Liz. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Ann, and joined the Air Force, working as an airplane mechanic stationed in Germany and Greece during the Korean War and had 3 children; Lynn (John), Rick (Dianne) and Laura. In 1976, he married his soul mate, Martha Clark, and became a father figure to her children, Karen (Nat) and Paul Bullard. After a long career as a mechanic for the City of Bellevue, he and Martha retired to Everson. Upon Martha’s passing, Jim met Louise Starr at the First Congregational Church in Bellingham and they enjoyed a happy marriage for the next few decades until her passing in 2018. Jim was very artistic and mechanically minded. He played the guitar and piano, drew cartoons and built a wooden sailboat, over 35 model airplanes and a hammer dulcimer. He was a proud member of the Bell Air RC Flyers Club and is preceded in death by his daughter, Lynn Meakin, and a stepdaughter, Beth Wilkinson. He was a father to nine children/stepchildren, 17 grandchildren/step-grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He will be buried at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Ferndale next to his beloved wife, Martha. He lived a long life and had an impact on many.
