Midweek Message November 10, 2021

Coffee Hour ==> Second Hour

This week we return to hybrid worship, which means both in-person and online opportunities to gather for our Sunday service. While the spread of coronavirus continues, we will be cautious. That caution, along with some of the insights shared in this past summers’ Backyard Conversations, has led several boards to look at what the time immediately following worship might look like. So we’re trying some things!

Depending on your comfort level, after in-person worship on Sundays you may decide to leave the building for fresh air. You may also choose to chat a little with others (distanced) in the sanctuary. Alternately, starting in Advent, you may join in person or on Zoom for a “second hour” conversation (that name is just a place holder as we experiment). Different ministries are planning a variety of second hour discussions beginning on November 28. You don’t need to know anything about the topic to participate, you might just listen, or you can bring questions.

Please understand we won’t offer food or drink (this isn’t coffee hour or social time as we knew it before the pandemic). Please also know these won’t be perfectly planned, but opportunities to reconnect with one another and try new ways of growing in faith within the limits of our current health reality. Mission & Justice, Faith Formation, and Membership Boards, as well as other ministries, are all excited about how our re-gathering can draw us together and send us out into God’s world in new ways.

See you Sunday,
Pastor Sharon

P.S. Please remember these protocols for in-person gatherings:

  • if you feel cold symptoms at all, or if you’ve traveled in the last week, stay home
  • dress warmly (gloves/hats), windows will be open for air circulation
  • wear a mask and allow distance between yourself and those outside your household
  • sign in for contact tracing
  • no singing or humming, please
