Sometimes we don’t pause to celebrate the little things often enough—the sweetness of a grandparent and child playing ball, the broad spectrum of colors on a fall tree, the way a particular sweater feels on your skin…
We sometimes let the big things pass, too, thinking it’s really no big deal, we don’t want to make a fuss. I’m all about the fuss! After all, the Bible provides many versions of “make a joyful noise” in its text, and we should celebrate when given opportunity.
So I hope you’ll join me in celebrating Judy Widrig’s 20th anniversary as a member of staff at First Congregational Church. Judy started as our church organist/pianist on October 1, 2003, and 20 years later she continues to bless us with her musical gifts. You may know her for bringing you to tears on whatever instrument she plays, but you may not know she also knits and does macrame, hikes and backpacks like a superstar. All while working as a professor at Western Washington University!
Thank you, Judy, for all that you bring to this congregation and our worship. You are a gift to us.
Thanks to the pandemic, we have so many recordings of Judy playing music for our worship services! Enjoy this Bach Prelude and Fugue in C major, BWV 846.

Work Party Sunday!
Since many hands make light work, can you help prepare a mailing? We're going to fold and stuff letters in envelopes immediately after worship this Sunday, October 1, in the Narthex? The church stewardship season is soon upon us, and First Congregational Church Leadership is asking people to volunteer for some discrete tasks during this time of pledging. This week, that looks like preparing our stewardship letter to be mailed to members and friends. Please consider volunteering for this one-time task, and then show up in the Narthex after church.
