The Green Team invites you to join a “Nature Nurtures” event. Our next event will take place at Lake Padden Park at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, October 14. There will be a brief meditation and a short walk on an accessible portion of the trail. Please be advised that we will be gathering at sunset and twilight will continue for only a half hour. We will gather rain or shine. All ages and abilities are welcome. We will meet at the west parking lot. (Some call this the north lot. It can be accessed from Wilkin St. or Samish Way. It is NOT the area near the golf course with the dog area.)
The First Congregational Church Green Team is inspired by the amazing ability of God’s Creation to heal itself and the creatures that inhabit it. We believe that opportunities to simply be in a natural setting inspires action to preserve our planet. We also believe that being outdoors together nurtures our spirits providing a sense of well-being. Bellingham abounds with excellent opportunities to experience the natural world through its park system and easy access to the waterfront.
Nature Nurtures are brief experiences outdoors in the early evening. We meet in a natural setting for a half hour. Our primary focus is simply being together in an outdoor setting. We plan for a half hour beginning at 6:30 pm to accommodate work, school, and family schedules. From November through March, it will be dark in Bellingham at that time, so we will plan activities in well lighted areas. Though our focus is on outdoor experiences, we will occasionally meet indoors during the winter months.
So much in our world is overwhelming. We move from crisis to crisis. The climate crisis is ongoing. Caring for our planet is exhausting and frustrating work. Nature Nurtures are opportunities to take a moment for renewal by turning our focus away from what we do to simply be in the beauty of creation.
All ages and abilities are welcome to participate. For more information, contact Ted Huffman.
