October marks the 25th anniversary of our congregation becoming an Open and Affirming (ONA) congregation. We've got some special activities planned, beginning Sunday, October 6. After worship, we'll have an all-church read aloud of the book In My Mothers' House by Patricia Polacco. Hang out in the sanctuary after the service to participate in this special. There will be plenty of time to check in with the League of Women Voters in the social hall during coffee hour.
On Sunday October 13, there is an ONA conversation planned after worship. Watch for details about this event later.
The following Sunday, October 20, during worship, people will share their coming out stories and we'll have special music from One Accord. We'll share celebratory cake during coffee hour after worship.
The last Sunday in October, October 27, we'll learn about the history of ONA.
We hope you will join us for these special Sundays to learn, celebrate, and look to our future as an ONA church. To learn more about this movement in the United Church of Christ visit the UCC's website or the website of the Open and Affirming Coalition of the UCC.
