Outdoor Hybrid Worship Update

Everything You Need to Know

What: Worship
When: Sunday, June 27 at 10:00 am
Where: First Congregational Church's south parking lot and in the Bigger Balcony (online)!

What to Bring

  • a chair or blanket to sit on (a few chairs will be available for those who need; bring an extra chair for a neighbor, if you’re able)
  • an umbrella, hat, or other protection from sun/rain
  • a water bottle (for your comfort)
  • a blessing/prayer for Sharry Nyberg on a small piece of paper
  • Parking
  • we encourage walking, biking, and public transit as you’re able
  • there are a few spots in the north (accessible) parking lot and near the church office for those who cannot walk distance
  • all others, please park in the lot near Whatcom Middle School or on the side streets (see attached map)

Please Note

  • check in at a welcome table when you arrive (get a name tag, a bulletin, and sign in)
  • masks must be worn in care of one another
  • check in with and respect one another’s requests for physical distance; we ask all not to hug at this time
  • the church building will not be open
  • lower level restroom is available for 1 household at a time (only as necessary)
  • it may be difficult for some to hear in person, depending on where you stand in the parking lot
  • we will live stream on Facebook (the Bigger Balcony) as has been typical this past year
  • it will be very HOT in the parking lot—in addition to sun protection and water, you may consider worshiping in the Bigger Balcony if that’s more comfortable for you

Remember this is an experiment! We are trying things out and seeing what works and what doesn’t, including technology. We are people of God, and we pray grace for one another as we figure out next steps in holding in-person worship. July 4 worship will be online only (we have a baptism!), and we hope to be back hybrid (in person and online) on July 11.
