Summer Food Scarcity

Food scarcity is a reality in the midst of our beautiful PNW summers. There are many ways you can serve others by feeding others. These opportunities are but a few:

  • Birchwood Food Desert Fighters – Members of this community live in a food desert with little access to affordable or fresh produce. Please share what you have in your gardens. You can donate any Saturday between 10:00 and 1:00 at the Industrial Bank parking lot on Northwest Avenue.
  • Garden View Tiny Homes Meal – On the last Wednesday of each month, members of FCCB provide a home cooked meal for the residents of the Garden View Tiny Homes. The date is intentional to help people stretch their SNAP benefits at the end of the month. The result is making our 55+ and older neighbors feel seen and cared for. Contact Kate Eifrig or Scout Mitchell for more information.
  • Bellingham Food Bank: Drop Donations off in their alley, after entering from Kansas Street. Monday-Thursday, 8:30 am-3:00 pm, Friday, 12:00 noon-3:00 pm. Current pantry needs:
    • Peanut Butter & Canned Meat
    • Seed & Nut Butters (peanut free)
    • Pinto Beans & Rice
    • Boxed Milks
    • Diapers & Baby Formula
    • Menstrual Products
    • Kid-Friendly Foods
