It’s a pleasure to introduce our Interim Music Coordinator, Dallas Geil (he/him).
Dallas is a musician, teacher, and lover of animals and games. He graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in music education. Over the years he has worked with the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra, several local music programs in the schools, as well as the Fidalgo Youth Symphony. He plays flute, clarinet, and ukulele and loves to listen to classical music as well as 60's and 70's rock.
When he is not working with his music students, Dallas is usually found out and about Bellingham playing card games with friends, trying new foods, or at home spending time with his partner, dogs, and cat.
The Search Committee interviewed several excellent candidates, and we believe the Spirit led us to Dallas both for his experience and personal spirit. His gifts for organization, balance, and understanding of music's spiritual essence (perhaps learned from his Quaker roots) deeply impressed us. We’re excited for the congregation to witness the willingness Dallas brings to meeting with members of all musical abilities to draw out what is already present in our congregation.
Please take some time to read his attached job description, as this is not the Minister of Music position we most recently had. One of Dallas’ primary responsibilities will be to support members in bringing forward their gifts and passions for music in worship. In other words, if you’ve been sitting on a dream you’d like help in making happen, please reach out to Dallas, music@fccb.net, or visit with him on Sunday morning!
