CHILDREN & YOUTH

Opening windows into faith

CHILDREN IN CHURCH

We love children in worship—their noises and wiggles are welcome, too. There are pillows in the front where they can see the instruments and participate fully, or the coloring, book, and play area is available in the corner near the windows. Their movements back and forth are a joy for all of us.

SUNDAY MORNING YOUTH

(Middle and High School)

Our middle and high school youth gather occasionally for food, reflection, and the sacred practice of goofing off together. Let Pastor Davi know if you'd like to be on our contact list for upcoming events!

FIRST SUNDAY COMMUNION

On the first Sunday of each month, all children join their family of faith for the full worship service and sacrament of Communion. Some children choose to sit with their parents/ guardians, while many sit with supportive adults on pillows in the front of the congregation. There they can see everything that is happening close-up. Wiggles and sounds are welcome in worship!

CHURCH CAMP

Join in the community and fun at a UCC camp this summer! Our camp N-Sid-Sen provides summer programs exploring God’s creation for children, youth and families. Water activities, opportunities to experience nature, time for fellowship and quiet contemplation, and all your favorite camp activities are available.

OUR WHOLE LIVES (OWL) SPIRITUALITY & SEXUALITY EDUCATION

We periodically offer a rotation of OWL classes for various ages, including Elementary, Middle, and High School. Our Whole Lives helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. It equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information on human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society and culture. Grounded in a holistic view of sexuality, Our Whole Lives helps participants clarify their values, build interpersonal skills, and understand the spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of sexuality.

THE CHILDREN'S GARDEN

The Children’s Garden is a church school mission project. The produce and flowers from the garden are shared with local nonprofit organizations. Families are invited to be “Garden Angels”—volunteering to care for the garden for a week during the summer.

HIGH SCHOOL MISSION TRIP

The High School Mission Trip focuses on service and volunteer work emphasizing education and cultural/social awareness.

LEADING SUNDAY WORSHIP

Children and youth play an active part in the Sunday morning service. They ring the church bell to start the service, lead liturgical readings, share their musical talent, help with communion and call for the morning offering.
