COVID Updates

As we move into fall with cooler weather and more indoor gatherings, your COVID Advisory Committee and Church Council continue to thoughtfully consider COVID-19 safety protocols. At its meeting Monday evening Council voted for some changes.

The following is a condensed version of a newsletter written by Dr. Katelyn Jetelina, MPH, Ph.D, an epidemiologist and biostatistician.

BA.5 has arrived. An estimated 10-15% of Americans will be infected. Unfortunately, hospitalizations and death will follow, albeit at lower rates then we’ve seen before.

In our community and state, cases of COVID-19 infections are increasing rapidly due to highly transmissible Omicron variants. More people are sick; more people are hospitalized.

The COVID Advisory Committee was established in July, 2020 by Church Council to make recommendations for safety protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic. For over two years, the Committee has faithfully followed data, science, and global, national, local information as the pandemic unfolded.
